shrub

A small shrub, the young branchlets pubescent, often with stout axillary prickles, up to 3 mm long.
Leaves thickly coriaceous, oblong or obovate-oblong, 2–3.5 cm long, 1.5–2 cm broad, obtuse to mostly emarginate at apex, obtuse or attenuate at base, the lateral veins numerous, very fine, slightly elevated on both surfaces; petiolules very short, 2 mm long.
Flowers axillary, sessile or subsessile, solitary or 2–3 together; sepals small, imbricate; petals 5, oblong, rounded at apex, about 4 mm long; stamens 10, free; ovary 2-celled, each 1-ovuled.
Fruit a subglobose depressed berry, black.
